Lots of Things Going On

February 2, 2011

as i am typing this, i am listening to the knitwitspodcast.  I just love this podcast.  rick and carin are so super cute and i find carin to be quite the inspriation.

so as i have titled the post, i do have a lot of things going on here.  finally.  things have been so slow and boring around here for so long and uninspirational.  i have finally found a bit of a groove and i am trying my best to stick with it.  now if only i could fit some housework in there, i would have it going on.

i just received my order from knitpicks today.  take a look at this haul:

this is what’s in there; i purchased this kit.  which was a great buy.  this kit included 2 skeins of stroll in merlot heather, a hank of bare in superwash wool, nylon fingering weight and a hank of stroll in the playtime hand painted colorway.  just lovely.  with three patterns.  socks, fingerless mitts and a slouchy beret.

i also got 2 hanks of imagination in the mermaid colorway to go with the multnomah shawl pattern on ravelry and last but not least i got 9 skeins of shine worsted in the serrano colorway for the knitpicks pattern called after five lace shrug pattern.  it is just a great looking pattern.  i cannot wait to start  i don’t know where to begin,  i think i have a serious case of startitis.

umm, what else do i have going on?  oh okay, a new item in my zibbet’s store at  http://www.zibbet.com/marylove.  it is a very slouchy beret.  and i have totally been into pinterest.  if you want to be friends on there look me up because i would love to hook up.  my username on pinterest is marylove and you can find me on twitter as @marymakes.

please check me out and if you have any sites that you would like me to check out, please let me know.

It’s Here

February 19, 2010

Well, my package finally got here today.  Here is a  picture.

Unfortunately, the lighting was horrible and this is the best that I could do.  The ball on the left is the color pimento.  I am going to use that for a stole I am going to make for my step-daughter’s wedding next February.  Her colors are going to be black and red, so I thought a nice red stole would be useful during the reception since she wants to have an outdoor wedding. It is going to be the sea and shells stole found here http://poshyarn.co.uk/patterns.html.

The skein of yarn is the color storm.  It is more like a green/blue.  I will be using that to test out for cosy over at cosymakes.  It is called the Marian Seaman Scarf.  You should go over to her blog and check it out. also check out her flickr, she has a beautiful picture of it on there.

The test knit scarf was to be my ravelympics project, but now that I have received my materials so late I can only hope that this can be accomplished.

I bought a few books too; A to Z Knitting, Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Knitting Workshop and Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Knitter’s Almanac.  Also, I purchased some odds and ends like blocking pins, a retractable tape measure and some stitch markers.

It is time to get knitting!

Totally Bummed

February 13, 2010

Well guys, it is going on almost a week since I ordered my yarn, accessories and books from KnitPIcks with a two day rush on it and it is still not here.  What’s a girl to do?  I am totally bummed.

I signed up with a team (Team Buttercream, cute, huh?) for the first time ever for Ravelympics and my darn order is not here yet.  I missed the cast-on start and now will have less time to complete my project.  More news on that later.  Well, I guess it is suppose to be a challenge, right?

No Delivery Today

February 10, 2010

Well, I was really looking forward to receiving my delivery today from KnitPicks.  But I am guessing I will have to wait until tomorrow?

WIPs

February 5, 2010

I know that I have not been very diligent in my blog writing, but I have been so in my knitting.

The first WIP I have to show is not a very good picture but the best that I could get with the light given.

It is a picture of the sweater I have been working on.  This is the front, the back is completed.  The unfortunate thing  about the sweater, is that I failed to order enough yarn for it.  So I have been working on my other WIP which was a birthday present from my sister-in-law.  It is the New Traditions Afghan from KnitPicks.

Here is a square I have been working on.

I am really enjoying it.  I love changing the colors often.  It never gets boring even though it is all garter stitch.

Last but not least, is the sock I have been working on.

Again, not a great picture but all I could really get.

So, as you can tell I have been busy and I do love blogging again.

Tomorrow:  A possible blizzard to report.

Back Again

January 6, 2010

So anyway, I have been so so bad at posting on the other blog I started, (with good intentions), that I decided I may as well come back to the blog I really liked.

I am here to stay and hoping to do better.  Really and truly.  It is a new year and I am hoping to start new things.

I recently made my first purchase from Knitpicks and it is definitely not my last as you will see in future posts.  I ordered 4 balls of sock yarn and a set of Harmony DPNs.  Very exciting.  I am working on my first pair of socks and loving the needles, as well as the yarn.  Hopefully, I will have pictures tomorrow.
