November 18, 2008i think it is 109?
November 11, 2008anyway, it has not been a very good couple of weeks. first, i was in my first (and hopefully only) car accident. it was absolutely horrible. to make a long story short, i got caught in a freak snow/ice storm, skidded off the road, hit a guard rail and flipped. yes, flipped. i was horrified. i hurt in a couple of places, was scratched and brusied, but all in all, i am okay. thank god no one else was involved and of course, because of the price of insurance in philadelphia, we only had liability and the truck was trashed. we have been borrowing cars off of my husband’s friend who owns a car business.
then, our upstairs, neighbor’s hot water heater breaks and we have a watery mess to clean up. and then, i get a $116.00 ticket for the accident and it just goes on and on. i am tired of it. oh, and i am almost completed a pair of socks, can’t find on camera and the other camera is dead, but i can’t find the wire to recharge it. damnit all to hell!
aren’t you glad you clicked on this blog!?!
so, that is my rant. my sad, sad, rant about my pitiful self.
on a more positive note, i have taught my SNL how to knit a sock. she just turned her first heel and was thrilled. that is also my most favorite part of the sock, turing the heel. so much fun. i am looking for a new project, any ideas?

October 20, 2008i know i have not had very much knitting content in this blog, however, i have been knitting. i should have something to show you tomorrow, hopefully. alas, i do have more pictures to show you. these pictures were taken this morning out side of my window. we live in the basement of an old apartment building with bars on the window. one day, we took notice of the fact that there were two squirrels that would make an appearance in between our window and then gate. our cat found this rather amusing and we have been feeding them ever since. this morning, i managed to get my camera fast enough to catch sam, the male squirrel. shirley is his wife who comes to visit as well.
we can tell the difference just by looking at them and what they do in the window. sam, will come and hang out for a while and eat his nuts right there. however, shirley (yes, i know the names or just too much) will climb in, take the nuts and run. here are the pictures i got of sam.

October 15, 2008i have been thinking a lot about Christmas lately and what i want to do. i really want this Christmas to be handmade, but i do not have a lot of money to spend on supplies so i will need to use up my stash. and you know, even though your stash may be rather large, it always seems so much easier to go out and buy new yarn to make new projects. or is it that is is more fun! probably a little bit of everything.
i have a couple of projects that i have started but nothing completed. i have a lot of ideas, but none of them started. i think i am having a bit of an issue. plus the weather here is crazy. we have hit that time of the year in philadelphia when indian summer begins. it was 80 degrees yesterday and though that may not seem very hot, in the city, 80 degrees can be stifling and stifling does not equal to Christmas incentives, you know?
so tell me, what are you up to? any ideas for christmas? also, if anyone reads this blog and has one too, please send me your site, i would love to read something new!

September 29, 2008this was a pretty big weekend for me. it may not be a bid deal to most, but those of you who have made their first loaf of homemade bread. not only did I make my first loaf of homemade bread, but it even was great tasting, according to my husband. if my husband liked it then it has got to be good. the recipe was pretty easy. it can be found here
. I also completed another baby sweater which was my very own pattern. t
it is the first knit pattern I made myself and I am quite proud of that as well. it is just a very simple four piece cardigan that I did in chunky lion brand yarn. it was quick and easy. however, the problem now is that I need a new exciting project!

September 11, 2008I am totally looking towards the Fall. I love the Fall. I love the big, bulky sweaters that you can hide under, the comfy jeans and some nice jogging pants. I especially love the soup As I have gotten older, I seem to have developed an appreciation for a good bowl of soup. No one, and I mean no one, could make a pot of soup like my Gram. She made the best soup and while she made her soup she would let me make mine.
My Gram would give me a big bowl with some warm water and spice bottles and just let me mix it up. It was great fun. While I was “cooking”, I would pretend to have a cooking show. Yes, long before cooking shows because famous, I had one. I still do. Yes, to this day while I am cooking, I still pretend to have my own cooking show. Of course, I di not talk out loud, it is all in my mind. I don’t want my husband to think that I am crazy, but it does make cooking more fun.
Just the other day I hosted a cooking show and I made a pot of vegetable broth. My husband will only eat the broth in the vegetable soup, so that is all I make. Some odds and end veggies, some meat bones and you get a great bowl of soup, well, broth and some cornbread. No pictures though, I really need to get better at that. It has been delicious. Now if only it would get much cooler.
On the knitting front, I am working on another pair of fingerless gloves, however, this time I am going to do a little embellishing.
